So today clearly hasn't been much of my day.
First thing in morning i locked myself out. Being the wise guy i am both the home door key and car key were together and so i ended up standing in the parking lot, in rain, feeling stupid and waiting for my mom to bring me a spare key.
After miraculously arriving on time at work, though it cost me my breakfast that i was planning to eat before the day would start, i was supposed to have a PE lesson. Rain obviously happened again and my plans to have the lesson outdoors were canceled. Deciding to move the lesson indoors i realized that the gym was filled with chairs from last nights parents eve. To make matters even more messy someone had parked pigs in the boys changing room. PIGS!! REAL LIVE PIGS!!!
And to make my day even better a student casually walks up to me and quietly informs me that i am walking with my zipper open. Still, i guess it would have been worse to continue doing it the rest of the day.
Hooray!

Tired
So at work things still are messy, but at least i managed to get my paper warfare done and am safely employed till next summer. The cause of most of the mess happens to be the fact that i have two classes that both share classes with other two classes, fourth graders, who share lessons with third graders, and fifth graders, who share lessons with sixth graders. Due to this my schedule is like a swiss cheese and i have only half the time to spend with one half of my class and half the time to spend with the other half. Its far from optimal but nothing we can do much about. These first weeks have mainly been about trying to make the system work.
I also got my first gig as a DJ. It was at a smallish bar called Bella Ciao in Espoo. The gig went pretty fine apart from the fact that in my first fifteen minutes there i accidentally drank boiling water and burned my mouth and then at closing time when there was some misunderstanding about tossing customers out and killing the music. The customers seemed to like me a lot, giving me a fair deal of compliments, so i left the place with a pretty positive feeling.
Other than that we celebrated Jonnas Birthday, together with her family on Sunday and personally on Monday (which was here real day). I was afraid a gift i had for here wouldn't arrive at all but just as i thought we would never see the whole things (a CD) it awaited me inside my door when i got home yesterday (go figure with Italians).
I guess i should try stepping up with some exercise to keep both my mind and body awake so i think I'll head out on a walk tonight.

Back to basics
So schools started which means that work has started for me. Everything just seems like a giant mess over at work and there is just tonnes of things to think about and sort. Still, its pretty fun despite being so time consuming.
The Berlin journal seemed to only get half way. I wonder if i really find myself writing it complete. Well, it won't be tomorrow that's for sure. Because tomorrow we're going out to see a movie.

I will continue to write where i left off, later. Today is going to be a story far more important, though it will only the beginning of it.

So we sit there with my grandpa at the airport bar and he asks me if we shouldn't have a pair of calming ones before the boarding. I nod to him and take out my phone to send my girl a text while he walks off to buy us the drinks.
We board the airplane, so far the smallest aircraft I've flown in, and make our way to our seats. The seats are located just next to the wing and i suddenly remember my grandmas story about how she once saw an engine fire break out while she was flying from Asia to Europe. I find it amusing for a while and wonder why the story doesn't scare me the least, after all, its a long while since i last traveled by plane.
Greetings and safety instructions are announced as the plane rolls out to the runway. While listening to these oddly formal messages a small fear starts to creep up on me. The thing that had been bugging me the past evenings suddenly surfaces on the perfectly last moment, its the simplest of frights, the fear of dying.
Due to my medical condition i suffered from a few years back i haven't been able to fly and no one really could tell me what would happen when i stepped on an airplane. The doctor who seemed to know the most said that all should be fine but that he could by no means promise anything and just asked me to be careful.
So as the plane rolls to a stop on the runway i find myself doing something unusual. I find that despite my tries to think about various things to occupy my mind with I'm recitating the lords prayer in my head. I don't tend to pray for myself even though I do consider myself to be fairly devout in my own ways so this all surprises me.
Ominously enough as soon as i reach Amen the engines clatter turn into a howl and the aircraft darts forward with great force. As the plane climbs my though's halt to a standstill and i can only stare out the window at the ground that keeps on disappearing into the distance and the haze of the clouds.
Suddenly the airplane starts shaking violently as we raise trough dense clouds but stops equally quickly when we emerge above then. And it is as if my fears and doubts all get washed away in an instant when i see the landscape of white mountains towering all over and a perfect blue above it. No matter how far i look, the landscape looks the same, equally impressive, as if not from this earth.

Berlin
If the liftoff frightened me then equally much so did the landing. Now i have never been afraid of flying, instead i think its quite interesting to know that i sit in a tin can and that i have close to no control over my destiny if something goes wrong, and actually i even find it calming in its own way. But due to the unpredictable nature of my condition i could only find myself being slightly worried trough out the flight. The landings and liftoffs were to be the most risky i was told and so that's when all the worry culminated in fear.
Safely on the ground we started navigating out of the airport and found it to be a fairly easy task. Picking up a few maps over the mass transit system of berlin we quickly figured how to go and where. And if someone ever comes and tells me the people in Berlin aren't kind and helpful to strangers then i will gladly smack their nose. Everyone who we asked help from to find the way were more than glad to tell us what they knew.
The hotel turned out to be quite neat even though as there only existed a self checkin on sundays we had to wait for an hour for the reservation to actually start. After dumping all extra belongings at the room we headed for the closest train station.
Now i knew berlin was big, but only after realizing that i was traveling inside the city with a train that I got a grasp about how big it was.
After arriving at Hauptbahnhof we started to make our way towards some of the landmarks of the city. The Reichstag, Brandenburger tor, The fancy revolving restaurant and a mighty church which name i already forgot, among many other things.
In the evening we figured we had seen as many beers as we had seen landmarks and about three times as many kilometers on foot. My grandpa, being the energetic old madman he is, still asked if i wanted to go for a drink but i simply settled for some quick dinner in form of cup ramen and crashed to sleep after a much longed for call home.

Faxing Berlin
So it's time to go. I've always wanted to visit Berlin and now i got the opportunity to do so together with my grandpa. I've also always wanted to travel with him since he travels a lot whilst i've been tied to ground for the past years. It really is a trip i've been looking forward to in many ways.
Still, it's more than just a trip to a place i want to go. It's also a trip i make as a battle against my fears.
But i'll come back, that's for sure.

Nautilus
So today I spent the day with my friend Maitek working on a track and surprisingly even managed to finish it. Not bad if i may say so myself, even though they claim mixing and mastering should always be done on a different day than composing. And to make the day even better i managed to get my first gig as a DJ at a pretty neat little bar/club.
Pötic
So on Sunday i woke up, not really knowing what i would do that evening, nor what i would do the following days, and then i suddenly find myself on my way out to the very bestest place i've gotten to know this summer. I guess i can never fit all of this summer into a post, nor into pictures, but maybe i can at least share a little part of all the good in a picture or two.
